Made-in-China and Alibaba listings often describe wind-turbine hydraulic clamps as "single-hole", "single-bolt" or "double-bolt" products, but those labels are not enough for engineering selection. For wind projects, the real decision is whether the line can be safely supported by a light mounting point or whether it needs a heavier DIN 3015 style clamp with stronger bolts, stiffer mounting hardware and project documentation.

§ 01 — What the terms usually mean

In supplier listings, "single-hole" normally means one main mounting hole or one centre fixing point. It is common on light or standard clamps for compact routing. "Double-bolt" usually points to a heavier clamp body with two clamp bolts or a DIN 3015 Part 2 / heavy-series style assembly. The wording is commercial, not a complete standard designation. Always translate the listing into pipe OD, clamp series, body material, insert material, bolts and mounting hardware.

§ 02 — Where single-hole clamps make sense

Single-hole hydraulic clamps can be useful where the pipe is small, pressure is low to medium, vibration is controlled and the line only needs routing support. Typical examples include tower auxiliary lines, low-pressure return lines, pneumatic control tubes and protected service routes. Their advantage is simple installation, lower weight and lower cost, but the single fixing point gives less resistance to rotation and baseplate bending.

§ 03 — When double-bolt clamps are safer

Double-bolt or heavy-series clamps become the better starting point when the line carries hydraulic pressure, sits near a nacelle vibration source or passes through an offshore/corrosion-critical zone. Pitch, yaw brake and hydraulic power-unit lines often need higher clamp force, a stronger cover plate and more secure mounting. If the pipe can move under pressure pulses, the small cost saving of a light clamp disappears quickly through fretting, oil leakage or rework.

§ 05 — RFQ data that prevents wrong quotations

The fastest way to avoid mismatched clamp quotations is to send a pipe list rather than only a product photo. Include pipe OD, wall thickness, pressure, fluid, temperature range, turbine zone, available mounting surface, coating requirement and certificate requirement. If the supplier cannot map those fields to a clear DIN 3015 series and hardware stack, the offer is not ready for a wind project.

Direct evidence
DIN 3015-1, -2 and -3 define light, heavy and double-clamp families. ISO 4413 covers hydraulic safety; bolt count alone is not a load rating.
Engineering inference
Choose geometry from line count, diameter, pulsation, bracket stiffness, installation envelope, fastener retention and required redundancy. One central bolt and two side bolts create different load paths.
